How much space do I need for a delivery?
Wing delivery requires a small area about the size of a picnic blanket clear of bushes, trees, and other overhead obstacles like powerlines. We've mapped the world to find sites that are open and accessible for our drones to make your delivery. Before you check out, drag the map and tap whichever delivery zone is most convenient.
Why is drone delivery not available at my address?
If we operate in your community but you’re not eligible for service, it may be because we were unable to locate a suitable delivery spot on your property. Our drones require a small area that’s clear of trees, powerlines and other obstacles in order to set the package on the ground.
How do Wing drones work?
Learn all about Wing drones and delivery on our technology page.
How far can Wing drones fly?
Our delivery drones have a one-way range of up to 6 miles away (up to 12 miles round trip). They don’t fly in a straight line in order to avoid obstacles, so they’re usually able to serve homes within about a 4 mile radius of our nests.
How fast do Wing drones fly?
About 65 mph.
How high do Wing drones fly?
We tend to fly about 150 ft above the ground. During delivery, the drone hovers down to about 20 feet above the ground.
Do you deliver in bad weather?
Our drones can operate in windy conditions, and some rain. Trained pilots monitor weather and determine if conditions are OK to fly.
Where’s the pilot?
One of the unique things about our technology is the ability for one pilot to simultaneously oversee multiple drones at multiple facilities. So in addition to the nests where drones takeoff and land, we also have command center-style facilities where pilots oversee operation of the delivery service. There’s no joystick to control individual drones; instead, pilots oversee the entire system.
Are Wing drones safe?
Wing’s lightweight delivery drones are among the safest ways to transport goods. We’ve flown 400,000+ residential deliveries, and we have multiple levels of redundancy built into our operations like real-time systems that conduct health and safety checks on our drones and qualified pilots who oversee operations. To offer this service in the U.S., the FAA has certified the safety of Wing’s drones and flight operations, and our pilots must be certified and follow FAA regulations.
How is Wing regulated?
Wing has the necessary permissions from regulatory bodies in every region where we operate. For example, in the United States, Wing is certified by the FAA as a Part 135 Commercial Air Carrier and is regulated under the same rules as other Commercial Air Carriers, except the FAA has granted some exemptions for rules that don't apply to drones.
